The first thing that came to mind when I saw this place was that I’ve entered a whole new world. They’ve made their own “little paradise” here, such that it feels like you’re vacationing in a hidden island instead of downtown Bangkok.

The hotel has potted plants everywhere, while the swimming pool and pool cabanas are surrounded by trees, lotus leaves and lilies. The entire hotel also feels regal due to its minimalistic yet modern design and black-and-white theme.

Best of all, you’ll get a stunning view from your room, with a flat screen TV, a king bed and a modern en-suite bathroom. What’s not to love?!

If you’re looking to get out of your little paradise, there’s a round-the-clock tuk tuk service to the nearest BTS and MRT here (perfect for the shopper in me). And if you simply want to stay in, there’s a restaurant and two bars on site for meals and a cocktail or two.

I often bring a big-sized luggage when I travel and I shop a lot. So when I pack and unpack my bag, I prefer having lots of space so the room doesn’t feel cluttered, even after taking out everything in my luggage.

At Somerset Sukhumvit Thonglor, even with a desk, dining table, sofa and hugeeee bed in the room, there’s still so much space!!

Better yet, each room has a kitchenette (yesssss!). I tend to have leftovers because I overorder. With a microwave, now I can heat up my food and indulge in midnight suppers when I’m starving…

And with the great view from the balcony accompanying my meal, it feels like I’m dining in a 5-star restaurant (especially at night when the city lights glimmer like stars… <3).

Who’s never heard of Novotel? Even if you’ve never stayed there, you’ve probably seen them around – not surprising since they’re known for their high-quality services and comfortable rooms. In Bangkok itself, there are 2 Novotel hotels worth staying at if you’re looking for an affordable luxury stay.

7. This luxury hotel is in Siam Square!! – Novotel Bangkok On Siam Square Hotel

Everyone loves shopping in Siam Square, whether it’s for cosmetics, clothes or accessories. And no matter how long you’ve been there, truthfully, it’s NEVER gonna be enough. But what if you can now shop until the last second?

My solution is to stay somewhere in Siam Square itself, so you can rest when the stores are closed and shop the moment they’re open. One hotel I recommend is Novotel Bangkok On Siam Square Hotel.

It’s located right inside Siam Square, which means you’re only a few minutes’ walk from major malls and stores in Bangkok. It also has restaurants, an outdoor swimming pool, fitness centre and a spa – everything for your ultimate comfort.

Best of all, your room has a great view of the Ratchaprasong area and offers a double bed, slippers, daily newspaper, etc. Relaxing and shopping 24/7 is definitely possible here!

8. Are we in Manhattan or Sukhumvit? – Novotel Bangkok Sukhumvit 20

With all the tall buildings you can see out of the floor-to-ceiling windows from your room, it’s no wonder you might think you’re in New York City. But even though we’re in Bangkok, this doesn’t mean you can’t experience the same things.

For one, you can enjoy the city skyline views of Sukhumvit when you grab a drink or two at Sky on 20, Novotel Bangkok Sukhumvit 20’s rooftop bar. They also have other bars and restaurants for you to go to in case you prefer staying indoors. Or if you prefer a more laid back activity, there’s the infinity pool and spa you can relax at instead.

Your rooms also have state-of-the-art amenities like a double bed, small desk and flat screen TV to let you rest comfortably.

9. Get your piece of “luxury” in Little Japan – Grande Centre Point Sukhumvit 55

What else can I say… You get to see incredible city views right from the comfort of your room!

That means the first and last thing you’ll see when you’re up are the majestic views – either from your bed or the sofa by the floor-to-ceiling windows. And with such sleek room designs and comfy beds, trust me, the only thing you’ll do here is rest and relax.

Of course, if you want the ultimate relaxation package at Grande Centre Point Sukhumvit 55, you can visit their infinity pool, Let’s Relax Onsen & Spa (it offers Japanese hot spring bath, Thai massage, Swedish massage, etc) and more.

But if you do decide to go out, remember to take the free tuk-tuk shuttle to the nearest BTS!

10. A modern take on Thai-style stays in downtown Bangkok – Lancaster Bangkok

What? This is a Thai-style stay?

Yes, with the hotel full of gold and yellow (Thailand’s royal colours), and the decor consisting of swirls and shapes normally used in traditional Thai designs!

But what I love most about this hotel is how they’ve taken this and added their own modern twist, most evident through the yellow pillows and white-yellow-grey stripes in every room.

They’ve also made sure to add a bathtub in the [transparent-walled] bathroom so you can enjoy the city views even when you’re bathing.

My favourite “modern” addition to this hotel though is the first-class hotel facilities – from Viva Jiva Spa (includes spa, fitness centre and pool) to a doctor-on-call service!

11. Bathtub in the bedroom? Saltwater pool?? Just wow. – S31 Sukhumvit Hotel

If you’re travelling to Bangkok as a couple, you might want to check this hotel out.

Romance simply oozes from the rooms… From the bathtub in the room (don’t worry, there’s a glass wall separating the bathroom from the bedroom) to floor-to-ceiling city views.

And if you’re willing to spend more bucks, you can even get a “Panorama View Suite” for a curved floor-to-ceiling window (which spans approximately 90 degrees). Talk about gorgeous…  (PS: This one is suitable for families or friends too)

Better yet, this hotel even offers an outdoor saltwater swimming pool with jacuzzi! Where else can you find this? Only at S31 Sukhumvit Hotel. 🙂

12. See stunning views of “posh” Sukhumvit all-day long! – Hyatt Place Bangkok Sukhumvit

Two words to describe this place – absolutely spectacular! Whether you’re swimming at the rooftop infinity pool or chilling in your room, you’ll be able to see the beautiful skyline of Phrom Phong (fun fact: this is where the rich live, aka the ritzy part of Sukhumvit).

The bedrooms are such a joy to stay in too, with the beautiful bathroom (with shower) and  oh-so-comfy bedroom.

This hotel is also “awake” 24/7, meaning you can do things at odd hours like going to the gym or getting some refreshments. That’s because the grab-and-go “Gallery Market”, fitness centre and business centre are always open (yep, even at 3am). Great news for night owls (like me)!

PS: Hyatt Place Bangkok Sukhumvit also has disabled-friendly rooms!

Special Mention #1: My fairytale dreams have finally come true! – The Salil Hotel Sukhumvit 57 – Thonglor

Khao Yai might be the IT place to go for European, princessy rooms, but not everyone has the time to travel there (it’s 2-3 hours from Bangkok). But no worries, This hotel has heard our cries and has built a European-themed stay, filled with all the “princessy” attributes.

Velvet chairs and headboards? Fluffy big beds? Floral wallpaper? Check, check and check!

There’s even a kitchenette and bathtub in your room, as well as shops and themed restaurants and cafes on site to make your stay a well-rounded fairytale.

Shopping, eating and resting? You can definitely do all three here!

Special Mention #2: Soaking in a jacuzzi with the city as your backdrop?! Now this is luxury… – Arte Hotel

Although there are more affordable rooms available at Arte Hotel, I’d like to draw your attention to their Jacuzzi Suite. This room is the epitome of affordable luxury.

Think about it… Soaking in a jacuzzi tub in a marble-tiled bathroom with city views as your backdrop. A classic wooden living room with sofas and flat screen TV to go full couch potato at. A luxurious bedroom with floor-to-ceiling windows… What more could we possibly ask for?!

This hotel even has a rooftop infinity pool, fitness centre and sky lounge! Now this is luxury… 😉
