Do you LOVE the idea of going camping, but just don’t particularly enjoy spending the night roughing it up, sleeping on the floor and eating tin food for days?

Well, never fear when we are near. We’ve found the ULTIMATE glamping sites around Thailand. Do yourself a favour and check them out! They’re heavenly!

One of my favourites parts about travelling is getting to stay in some of the most beautiful, unique (and fair share of crazy) places, and I truly am a sucker for aesthetically pleasing things, especially when it comes to interiors and design. So I love finding hidden gems – accommodation wise.

If you haven’t noticed by now, over the years, the glamping (a little bit of glamour/luxury + camping) has become a trend.

Nestled among tropical trees, next to waterfalls and going all out safari style, we’re seriously digging Thailand’s take on glamping. And for some places, you may even have to pinch yourself to remind you that it’s actually all real; you ARE in fact in a tent my darling, and NOT in a hotel…

1. Overlooking the bay, treat your body and find that inner peace – The Island Hideout, Koh Yao

I started dreaming of travelling the world when I was about 14 years old. My best friend and I always wanted to live in a jungle, with a beach obviously, somewhere in Asia, living the simple hippy life…

Well, this is what I imagined in my head when I thought of places to stay and for me, epitomises the idea of a ‘jungle-stay’.

Barely visible, and tucked among lush untouched green hills, these beautiful bamboo fairytale structures are open and stick to natural simplicity – in the best way!

Photo Via Islandhideout, Harmony.trips_

There are actually only four villas on the property, so its super, duper private!

It’s also a tech-free place, there’s no WiFi (I actually LOVE this), so this is where you get your zen on and disconnect from the world. They offer yoga classes as well as holistic healing, completely surrounded by a thousand shades of greens and trees.

2. It’s a wonderland out of our childhood dreams – White Bear Camping, Chiang Dao

Almost shaped like a circus marquee, step into a white wonderland tastefully done with giant teddy-bears, all dotted and spread across a lush green hill.

Photo Via Rainny168, Aum_napat

This is like what you imagined camping to be as a kid. When you’re sitting under your blankets pretending to be in a tent, telling ghost stories…It has that sort of feel.

Rooms are super cosily decorated, and I love the use of fairy-lights and feathers, it adds a dreaminess to the place.

Photo Via Fpppj, Arindada.k, Icesassy, White_bear_camping

For some reason, I just keep thinking of a teddy bear’s picnic. Probably because at night time they set up a BBQ, private picnic style!

The last thing that I love? They’ve also got a bunch of awesome activities set up for guests to try out whilst camping, from archery and cycling to nighttime bonfires and lantern releasing!

3. Everything you could possibly want in a luxurious holiday – Soneva Kiri, Koh Kood

Famous among travel bloggers all around the world (and it’s no surprise why when something is this stunning), this is truly an incredible luxury destination.

And they provide everything my loves:
1. A luxurious villa fitted with all the bells and whistles (views for days, tub for two, etc)
2. A beachfront paradise with crystal clear waters and that soft, white sand fit for a Maldives-worthy vacation.
3. The dining experience in a ‘bird’s nest’ in the forest’s canopy. Simply walk around Soneva and you’ll find facilities worthy of a world-class destination.

It’s breathtakingly beautiful; totally open and spacious – hence the glamping vibes here, expect lots of woods and natural textures, and a private pool among the trees.

This hidden nature paradise in Thailand is simply calling my name and pulling on my travel heartstrings.

Just a side thought – if you’ve been wondering of a place to propose to your beloved, or even planning your honeymoon stay, this is a wonderful (and magical) option!

4. Enjoy Chiang Mai’s exquisite natural beauty in this treehouse tent – Lan Na Wild Glamping, Chiang Mai

Oh my goodness, this reminds me of a place where Pocahontas would live if she were living in our times. And these tents, built in tree-houses, take glamping to the next level and are oh-so-beautiful!

Imagine staying among a grove of tall trees, where greenery and mother nature are your back garden, in a tent-style wooden structure built among the trees. This is seriously next level gorgeous in my opinion.

It has this naturalistic/geometric look to it, and for some reason reminds me of an Instagram filter, is that weird to say? Pastels, dark woods and whites deluxe.

And my favourite part about it? Two of their treehouses have their own onsen baths, where luxury meets relaxation.

They’ve even got a group sized ‘Deluxe Gang Tent’ so the entire crew can stay together. Also don’t forget to check out their prices on weekends/long weekends as they vary from weekday prices!

5. Get pampered with all this luxury – Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle, Chiang Rai

Calling all the kings and queens, this is the epitome of luxury, it is the Four Seasons after all…

If you’re looking to seriously step it up in style, it provides all the luxuries of a hotel – maybe even more. And instead of being stuck between bedroom walls, you’re fully submerged in nature.

Expect leather and wood finishes throughout your glamp home, and you can even relax in a beautiful wooden hot-tub on your outdoor patio.

It’s 4km from the Golden Triangle, and a 4-hour drive from Chiang Mai, so there’s lots of exploring to do in and around too!

Surrounded by rolling mountains and greenery, this slice of heaven is slowly becoming a favourite of many with its enchanting, retreat-style ways.

7. Go glamping ‘African Safari’ style! – Lala Mukha Tented Resort, Khao Yai

I’m South African, and I have to say, I love the African safari vibes they have going on here, especially when finding this in Thailand!

It’s the ultimate ‘glamping’ experience, in gorgeous surroundings and it really has that African grasslands feel and look to it – I’m in my element. So if you’re looking for something a little different in Thailand, why not indulge in our fantastic culture.

The set up is beautiful and each tent has basically the entire shabam; leather couches, a hot shower, soft bed, TV and a mini fridge, all INSIDE your tent!

This is a great way to spend a few days, under the stars, in the fresh air and enjoying mother nature.

8. Enjoy panoramic views ocean views from your luxurious tent and enjoy the sunrise from your private pool, adults only – 9 Hornbills Tented Camp, Ko Yao

Excusez-moi? How‘s this for a little piece of luxury, taking comfort to the next level! And if you’re looking for all the little extras that we love about vacation, here’s your winner.

Photo Via Photography_hotel_resort, Emilyliewhooinee

It’s designed to make you feel right at home, all inside a tent! Would you believe it? Could you? From the actual queen sized-bed (you won’t find anything on the floor here) to the sofa that might as well be an actual piece of furniture for the home.

Photo Via Photography_hotel_resort, Paniisme

Oh yes AND a bathtub in your own (private) garden. All I’m thinking is sunset in the tub with a glass of champagne – get outta town!

Photo Via Emilyliewhooinee, Photography_hotel_resort

But you haven’t heard the best part yet. Each unit also has a private pool, so you don’t ever have to leave if you don’t want to!

Speaking of, every morning you’re served their ‘Floating Breakfast’ – a delicious papaya stuffed with tropical fruits, muesli and yoghurt! Why the ‘floating’ part? Because it’s served to you in the pool, tray and all!

9. A jungle bungalow along the river, with a private pool in every villa – The River Flows Camp เดอะ ริเวอร์ โฟลส์ แคมป์ กื้ดช้าง Chiang Mai

I honestly have no other way to describe this place other than breathtaking and this is totally my cup of (accommodation) tea.

It’s situated in Kued Chang, a little outside of town. However, they offer free shuttle services into the city and to tourist attractions, so there’s no need to panic. This is designed to let you indulge in a few stress-free days.

Each villa-style bungalow is placed along the river – they offer white-water rafting here too (again, no charge for guests!). Gorgeously designed, each unit is really open and light, made of thatch and hard tented canvas.

Photo Via Rabbitzthanya, Gofravis

Expect lots of different woods and textiles, soft and warm colours with white sheets billowing at your bedside from the river breeze.

Oh, and lest we forget, each villa has their own pool and a beautiful, large wooden patio stretching and winding around you. There’s even a balcony up and around a tree, it’s just too pretty, I can’t deal!

10. Glamp by the river and there’s a mouth-watering menu! – Jumtla Campiness, Chiang Mai

Olala, this is so aesthetically pleasing and I love the rawness of this set-up. Modern, warm and homely, each tent is decorated differently, sticking to woods, comfort and simplicity.

You’re set up in a circular tent, with a natural bamboo roof sheltering you. It is relaxing and super chill, both inside and outside your tent, with a nice private touch to it too.

Photo Via Knottfdg

It’s set up riverside so you’re completely sounded by the peacefulness of Chiang Mai’s nature.

Photo Via Yarun_gasp, Queen_prae, Petpeipetpe

And I just have to mention the food with this one; they serve delicious meals both morning and evening and their breakfast shakshuka, looks to-die-for delicious! Of course, they grow their own veggies which they use in their cooking. Love it!

Photo Via Padungsin, Mayz_thakanya, Tixzy_tawny

There are yoga classes too and it’s really the perfect little hideaway to unwind, relax and ease into the swing of things! And if you’re on a budget, they also have the cutest teepee tents, that are still really comfortable, but have more of the old-school camping vibes!

11. Go on a dreamy treehouse treasure hunt – Bangkok Tree House, South Thonburi, Bangkok

Of all the treehouses we’ve ever seen, Bangkok Tree House takes the cake with its ultra gorgeous treehouse.

Have you ever had a dream where you’re spending the night on a plush king-sized bed set out in the middle of nowhere, under the twinkling starry night sky? You might be happy to know that your dream can come true, with their “View with a Room”! (Thanks @chulasoi9 for the video walkthrough!)

Being in Bangkok you’d expect the tall building life, but out here, it really feels like you’re in the in the tropics surrounded by lush shades of green and palm trees!

If you don’t fancy spending the night outdoors, they also have units which they call ‘nests’ and each space looks cocooned and nestled among the trees.

It’s oddly wonderful in its design, geometric rooms diagonally placed on top of each other, and very raw natural materials used in the building of this space – so it really has that glamping-esque feeling.

PS: Should it rain, or if insects come along, they do have a contingency plan, so you don’t have to worry!

12. Truly retreat into nature with one of mother nature’s giant babies – Elephant Hills, Khao Sok National Park

If you’re a huge animal lover, perhaps this glamping nature retreat/elephant camp/once-in-a-lifetime experience – might be the one you’re most drawn to.

Luxury camping in comfortably modern and spacious tents, and the opportunity to interact with elephants in their natural surroundings – what could be more perfect? It’ll also be one of the coolest things you could do I reckon! Especially if you have strong views on ethical elephant welfare.

“Everybody who knows Elephant Hills is aware that we put the highest emphasis on our animal welfare standards. Our unique Elephant Experience allows guests since 2010 to interact with majestic Asian elephants in an ethical way, without riding or the elephants performing tricks.”

Depending on your preference, there are 2 tours to choose from.

1. 3D2N Jungle Lake Safari (most popular and good for couples who’re up for a challenge!)

  • Day 1: Feed, bathe and play with the elephants, go canoeing, and watch dinner dance performances.

Photo Via Car_cap

  • Day 2: Visit a local market, ride a traditional longtail boat on Cheow Larn Lake, go on a canoe safari and wildlife-spotting.

  • Day 3: Go jungle trekking and have a swim at the lake before heading off.

2. 4D3N Rainforest Nature Safari (a more relaxed pace for honeymooners who want to take things slow)

  • Day 1: Feed, bathe and play with the elephants, go canoeing, and watch dinner dance performances.

  • Day 2: Take a speedboat through the fig tree channel, canoe in the mangroves, lunch on a classic Burmese Junk, and watch dinner dance performances.

  • Day 3: Visit a local market, ride a traditional longtail boat on Cheow Larn Lake, free and easy time to go canoe, visit the elephants or explore the area, and relax with dinner dance performances.

  • Day 4: Go jungle trekking before heading off.

Another thing to note is that you’ll be able to experience two different types of glamping! First, you’ll glamp at the Elephant Camp in luxury tents in the jungle. Second, you’ll glamp in over-water tents at the Rainforest Camp. Cool huh!

13. Alongside a river, if you love outdoor activities, you’ll dig it here! – Hintok River Camp, Kanchanaburi

Camping’s pretty cool till you need to use the bathroom.

This campsite doesn’t only come with surprisingly spacious tents fully equipped with your en-suite bathroom and air-conditioning – they also serve dinner fresh off the grill.

Overlooking the River Kwai and Hintok Mountain, you can only imagine the views! It’s also nestled in a clearing in Kanchanaburi’s famous Hellfire Pass.

Tents are ‘pitched’ (Up on your own private wooden patio) along the river with wonderfully traditional Thai style decor. It feels like a comfortable hotel and makes for one super stylish camp!

Settle in amongst the tropical trees, and you should totally enquire with the hotel staff about organising activities such as canoeing trips, Hellfire Pass trekking, Bamboo Rafting and Mountain Biking. They can help you arrange it!  It also boasts a natural spring-water pool and daily campfires.
