Looking for something with a bit of ambiance and colour, as well as delicious food? Welcome, welcome!

The food here is super chic with each bowl/plate/basket just bursting with different colours – making sure you see the chef’s dedicated attention to the food. You can see the care in their work.

Looking at the food, I really don’t know where to start! Everything is so beautiful, I want to taste it all!

2. Hidden boat noodles that’s been around for almost 40 years – Lung Prathunam Boat Noodles

This ship has been sailing for almost 40 years! The captain, Mr Lung, passed down orders and it’s now his daughter that runs the shop – or hidden stall should we say.

It’s tucked away down a dark alley so the hesitations might get real, but it’s well worth the wander with a bowl this good.

Pig’s blood / cow’s blood soup with noodles and minced meat, served in a rich, dark soy broth. We’d recommend adding the crispy wontons or pork skin to your dish!

If you’re afraid of the “bloody” ingredients, you can try something else such as their Yong Tau Foo Noodle and enjoy the pink sweet, spicy and sour taste.

3. Find the great value-for-money tomyam lobster noodles – Pe Aor Tom Yam Kung

Traveling to Thailand? Yeah you’ve gotta try an excellent Tom Yum Goong! Hot, sour, spicy, that’s what you want to taste.

This little, local restaurant  brings the flavour and the (portion) size all in one huge bowl, wow!

Try their famous tomyam lobster noodles with crabs, mussels, a large piece of salmon, fresh squid, an egg and silky rice noodles.

Lastly, never fear if you’re not a spicy fan, there are also other Thai dishes for you to try!

4. Pull in for juicy, fresh pork leg rice – Khao Kha Moo Truk Sung

If you’re a pork trotter fan, then you don’t want to miss this secret pork trotter dish that few travellers know about!

Their Khao Kha Moo (a traditional Thai dish of stewed pork leg over rice, cooked in a clay pot) is mouth-watering; an instant taste of trotters, with bittergourd soup – perfection!

The set-up is all clean, including their meat, so no hesitations needed in that department.

Refresh with a coconut, fill your stomach and don’t forget to get rid of the heat, then continue with your shopping spree!

5. Get your super bowl of tomyam noodles (big enough for 3!) – The Place 168

If you want to take a break and enjoy your meal in an air-conditioned restaurant, you might want to consider The Place 168!

Because it is a restaurant, the price is slightly higher – however, it’s a super bowl that’s said to be enough for three people to share!

In this tomyam, there are meatballs, seafood, eggs, etc., it’s really so full of flavour!

In addition to tomyam, there are also a lot of other dishes here and if you’re looking to eat a balanced diet, there are plenty of veggie options too!

6. This is a halal favourite we love to enjoy – Tomyam Paa Nga (Halal）

Why it’s so special? This is a halal version of Tomyam Soup, and this is a favorite place for many Muslim patrons and friends.

If you’re traveling with a Muslim buddy, you don’t want to miss this tomyam soup!

The owner is very kind and loves to take selfies with the guests! So remember to laugh. 🙂

The tomyam soup is very rich, with seafood, and some yummy greens, full of different flavours and it has a very authentic taste!

Their servings are certainly generous, so it’s perfect for dinner, and you’ll leave with a full and happy stomach.

7. It’s been around for more than 80 years! – Kuang Heng Chicken Rice

Please, don’t think that the Hainanese chicken rice in Thailand is the same as its origins!

Although this chicken does not have that intense fragrance – as the chicken is only boiled in water and not a broth) – their speciality is in their sauce and peppers! This combination fully brings out the sweetness of the chicken!

The Hainanese chicken rice at Kuang Heng has been around for more than 80 years, and is very famous.

Long queues are inevitable, but the queues are shorter than Go-Ang Pratunam chicken rice – the other famous chicken rice joint down the road. It’s also very tasty, especially the sauces!

Also famous here is their satay and fried chicken! And the best part? It’s open 24/7, so no 7/11 required!

8. Let your nose lead the way – Midnight Kaiton

If you want to eat chicken rice, but don’t want to queue long, you may want to go to the end of the street! There is a chicken rice stall with servers in a blue uniform.

I LOVE rice in any form, and this one I smelt from a mile away. The scents and fragrance that come with the dish are beautiful.The meat is cooked well and tender, with its own special sauce, it’s really great!

In addition to chicken rice, they also sell fried chicken and stew. Stay up all night, it’s another all nighter!

9. Love a good Thai green papaya salad? – Somtam Nua

It’s all in the name! If you’re not so clued up on your Thai, that’s green papaya for you – probably the most popular type of salad in Thailand.

It’s cheap and there are four different types of papaya salad to choose from.

You can also choose to add different ingredients such as salted egg yolk (!!!), crab meat, and more. It’s best eaten with rice to enjoy the different complementing flavours.

Thai cuisine is also known for their fried chicken and fried rice noodles, and this shop has a variety of choices for you to try!

10. Classic Bangkok streetsides— XiangJi Thai Food

Cheap roadside stalls are often packed! When you come across one this popular, you may have to wait a little longer to find a seat! But don’t worry, the boss serves orders up quickly.

If you want to experience life in Bangkok, chat over beers, and embrace the heat, all the while enjoying the sounds of the frying wok – this place will leave you smiling.

11. Halal Thai chicken rice, with a prayer room too! – Saneeya Thai Muslim Food

Here’s another another spot for halal Thai cuisine! Plus, the owner is a sweetheart and the restaurant is very clean I’d say.

Not long ago, the super-large seafood tomyam soup was introduced to their menu – which seems to be a thing over here!

They’ve also got Thailand’s famous white chicken rice; the chicken looks really fresh and juicy!

The price may be slightly higher, but it’s worth your money!

Seafood, Western food and Thai cuisine, they have a good selection of everything. Opening business early till late, they cater for all three meals in a day.

PS: This restaurant also has a prayer room!

12. Go nuts at this all-you-can-eat seafood buffet! — The SQUARE, Novotel Bangkok Platinum Pratunam

I mean, (if) you lurve seafood, you’re going to go nuts at the thought of an all-you-can-eat seafood buffet, right? Um, YES and here it is!

Novotel Bangkok Platinum Pratunam offers a different selection of seafood buffets on different days/times of the week. Crab ‘N Prawn Dinner Buffet on Friday and Saturday nights, Seafood Brunch Buffet on Sunday, I’m totally sold.

They’ve also got special promotions on, so it’s really worth the dining.

13. Hey all you seafood fans… – Jack’s Seafood Buffet

You could tell me about ten different seafood places and I’d probably want to try them all, so here’s all about Jack’s.

It seems to be very simple from the outside, but stepping closer, the inside is where the action is at.

Using big, fresh ingredients, choose from a display of impressive sized prawns, shellfish, and even crabs! Any choice, any way you like!

14. It’s featured on CNN’s Best Boat Noodles in Bangkok! – Provence

Although the restaurant in Gayson Village is called “Provence” adding a very French flavour to it, it sells authentic Thai food!

If you want to find a quiet place to enjoy your food with a cosy set-up, you might want to consider this!

The most famous here is the beef and fish egg Boat Noodle soup! The price is a bit higher because they actually import their beef from Australia – amazing quality meat that makes all the difference.

The thick soup base is fragrant, with a salty taste and their noodles are just right!

In addition to their famous boat noodles, there are other Thai dishes, such as spring rolls, leek dumplings, and of course, mango sticky rice!

15. If you love duck, you have to come here! — Pondtip Pratunam

In Bangkok, everyone thinks that chicken rice is king. However, there is a little place known for duck rice/duck noodles!

The food is not only yummy, it’s pretty cheap and definitely worth your money too.

If you love duck, this place is a winner! The marinated duck tastes just right, with both rice or noodles, leaving your mouth full of flavours. The sauce that they use simply seals the deal, perfectly complementing the flavours of the dish. (They also sell duck wings!)

Pondtip not only serves Duck Rice but they’re also well-known (and reallyyyy popular with the locals, so it’s always busy) – for their fried Chicken Rice and White chicken rice!

Special Mention: Hot and sour mom’s noodles – Jeh O Chula ร้านเจ๊โอว (about 8 minutes drive from Platinum Mall)

If you want to have a particularly memorable night in Bangkok…

We recommend meeting this mama, as the locals have affectionately called it!

About 8-minutes drive from Platinum Mall (or about half an hour walk), you’ll find the family-friendly smiles of Jeh O Chula – serving up authentic Chinese fast fried and Thai-style foods.

The owner has been in business for more than 40 years, and recently launched the  popular hot and sour ‘mom’ noodles.

The first bowl is served at 11.30pm, but be warned, you have to queue up to order food! Filled with prawns, squid, sliced ​​meat, a bright orange yolk and some fresh greens, the noodles are simply mouth-watering!

The super-large seafood noodles for 4-5 people is sour and spicy, so your stomach will dance all night! If you want more seafood, you can also add crabs for a fee.

In addition to the ‘mom’ noodles, there are other quick-fried dishes here, and we recommend tasting the quick-fried and salmon slices here, yip that’s right! That’s like, the best midnight snack ever!

It’s a great place to do a midnight after party / party food run with your mates.  If you’re young and energetic, don’t think about it – just go!
