2. Hidden boat noodles that’s been around for almost 40 years – Lung Prathunam Boat Noodles

This ship has been sailing for almost 40 years! The captain, Mr Lung, passed down orders and it’s now his daughter that runs the shop – or hidden stall should we say.

It’s tucked away down a dark alley so the hesitations might get real, but it’s well worth the wander with a bowl this good.

Pig’s blood / cow’s blood soup with noodles and minced meat, served in a rich, dark soy broth. We’d recommend adding the crispy wontons or pork skin to your dish!

Their Khao Kha Moo (a traditional Thai dish of stewed pork leg over rice, cooked in a clay pot) is mouth-watering; an instant taste of trotters, with bittergourd soup – perfection!

Why it’s so special? This is a halal version of Tomyam Soup, and this is a favorite place for many Muslim patrons and friends.

7. It’s been around for more than 80 years! – Kuang Heng Chicken Rice

Please, don’t think that the Hainanese chicken rice in Thailand is the same as its origins!

Although this chicken does not have that intense fragrance – as the chicken is only boiled in water and not a broth) – their speciality is in their sauce and peppers! This combination fully brings out the sweetness of the chicken!

If you want to eat chicken rice, but don’t want to queue long, you may want to go to the end of the street! There is a chicken rice stall with servers in a blue uniform.

I LOVE rice in any form, and this one I smelt from a mile away. The scents and fragrance that come with the dish are beautiful.The meat is cooked well and tender, with its own special sauce, it’s really great!

9. Love a good Thai green papaya salad? – Somtam Nua

It’s all in the name! If you’re not so clued up on your Thai, that’s green papaya for you – probably the most popular type of salad in Thailand.

It’s cheap and there are four different types of papaya salad to choose from.

You can also choose to add different ingredients such as salted egg yolk (!!!), crab meat, and more. It’s best eaten with rice to enjoy the different complementing flavours.

11. Halal Thai chicken rice, with a prayer room too! – Saneeya Thai Muslim Food

Here’s another another spot for halal Thai cuisine! Plus, the owner is a sweetheart and the restaurant is very clean I’d say.

Not long ago, the super-large seafood tomyam soup was introduced to their menu – which seems to be a thing over here!

They’ve also got Thailand’s famous white chicken rice; the chicken looks really fresh and juicy!

The price may be slightly higher, but it’s worth your money!

Seafood, Western food and Thai cuisine, they have a good selection of everything. Opening business early till late, they cater for all three meals in a day.

It seems to be very simple from the outside, but stepping closer, the inside is where the action is at.

Although the restaurant in Gayson Village is called “Provence” adding a very French flavour to it, it sells authentic Thai food!

15. If you love duck, you have to come here! — Pondtip Pratunam

In Bangkok, everyone thinks that chicken rice is king. However, there is a little place known for duck rice/duck noodles!

The food is not only yummy, it’s pretty cheap and definitely worth your money too.

If you love duck, this place is a winner! The marinated duck tastes just right, with both rice or noodles, leaving your mouth full of flavours. The sauce that they use simply seals the deal, perfectly complementing the flavours of the dish. (They also sell duck wings!)

Pondtip not only serves Duck Rice but they’re also well-known (and reallyyyy popular with the locals, so it’s always busy) – for their fried Chicken Rice and White chicken rice!

We recommend meeting this mama, as the locals have affectionately called it!

About 8-minutes drive from Platinum Mall (or about half an hour walk), you’ll find the family-friendly smiles of Jeh O Chula – serving up authentic Chinese fast fried and Thai-style foods.

The owner has been in business for more than 40 years, and recently launched the  popular hot and sour ‘mom’ noodles.

The first bowl is served at 11.30pm, but be warned, you have to queue up to order food! Filled with prawns, squid, sliced ​​meat, a bright orange yolk and some fresh greens, the noodles are simply mouth-watering!

The super-large seafood noodles for 4-5 people is sour and spicy, so your stomach will dance all night! If you want more seafood, you can also add crabs for a fee.
