1. For something a little more upscale and peaceful – Baan Suchadaa Lampang Resort
Children under 14 are not allowed at this resort, allowing you to luxuriate in peace. Boasting a salt-water infinity pool, you can chill there with a drink from the bar – or take a stroll and see if you can chance upon their ducks.

The rooms which are based on male and female energies, come with rain showers and some feature erotic art.

The overall feel being rather grand and luxurious, like a superglam bachelor’s pad meets vacation home – bringing the concept of Arabian nights to mind, with the billowing curtains and bold and with repeating patterns.
However, you could forgo those and book one of their standard rooms that are more modern, if you just want something more basic.

2. WHAT?! $25 for a room fit for a king?! – The Coconut Hotel
With a balcony that looks out into a mix of palm trees and coconut… but the main star has to be the huge bed with fluffy white sheets, though.

Instead of tables, they have marble slabs built into the wall for a sleek and classy design. Decorated in subdued neutral hues, it’s a pleasing stay to unwind at.
Dubbing themselves ‘Simple Paradise in Lampang’ they’ve lived up to guests’ expectations of being clean and efficient. Many were happy with the vicinity of other stores and eateries as well. By the way, the airport is just a 6 minute drive away.
The property also owns a restaurant that has been known to host events from time to time (if you’re interested!)

They also have a co-working space slash cafe that serves whipped cheese rose tea and a hangover cure that comes in the form of a hip flask. Great for hanging out together or just to grab a bite – there’s a variety of snacks available, but the most prominent one is definitely their sweet potato cheesy balls.

Check Rate on Agoda 10. Restored old Thai house with modern conveniences – Baan KUM – ON
The artists at heart will definitely appreciate this jewel – a classical antique stay.
The four posterbeds they have are curtained with lace trimmings which makes it quite whimsical and romantic. Each room has their little tea spot, with cushions you may sit on and a little table for tea.
However, travellers have warned that it might get a little noisy at night, so if you’re a light sleeper, you might wanna bring along some earplugs or earphones so you may fall asleep to your favorite lullabies.
It’s a small price to pay for the immersive Thai experience you’ll get. And not to mention the delicious traditional breakfasts they offer.

Check rate on Booking.com 12. Escape from the hustle of town and recharge in peace – Lampang Vintage
We stayed here ourselves, and the rooms are pretty standard, modern without any excessive furnishings.
It was an extremely comfortable sleep, and we got a pretty good view out from our balconies, making the door frame look like an oversized painting. In the mornings, you might even catch the soft morning mist over the fields.

But a word to those traveling with elders: this is a warm family-run hotel that is a 3-storey building with no elevator.

It is a little more out of the way, so you may require a taxi or a rented car. They have a car park right in front of the hotel so it’s pretty perfect for roadtrippers.

While this place might not have air-conditioning, the ample foliage keeps it cool in the afternoons and even cooler at night (especially during winter!).
There is a shared kitchen space, gym, library and meditative spots for Yogis.
If you’re looking for a unique stay that offers glamping on different level, look no further! Plus, it’s not as though it’s smack in the middle of nowhere – it’s actually just 10 minutes away from the city center.
Now that’s what I call the best of both worlds!
Lampang is a place filled with surprises from the mystic to the modern. It really can be eye-opening to experience personally, the lesser known parts of Thailand.
Having travelled to Lampang ourselves, we highly, highly recommend a visit here – if you’re planning a trip to Chiang Mai.
PS: And for those who have been interested in travelling to Lampang before, but lamented the quality and availability of good stays – you’re welcome!
