PS: The resort has free roaming peacocks (there’s even the super rare albino peacock!), exotic birds and cute kittens on the grounds, so do be careful. When we were there, we witnessed the peacocks jumping down from a roof right over our heads!

5. Super unique marine-themed resort – Kaengkrachan Boathouse Paradise (1.5 hour drive from Hua Hin)

We had to include this in the list. It’s super unique with boathouses you can actually stay in!

Luxury accommodation located within Aium Chun boats, it’s interesting to think that these were actual boats locals used to use for not just transportation, but as their homes too.

Located near Kaeng Krachan National Park Kaeng Krachan Dam, these floating stays boast unexpectedly elegant interiors.

There’s one for the honeymooners (Honeymoon Suite Boat), and one for families (Family Suite Boat), and more options depending on what you’re looking for.

Single storey or double storey, the choice is yours. We’ve even seen a grand tub for 2 in one of the boathouses!

If you finally manage to pry yourself off the boat, there’s the resort swimming pool you can head to for afternoon dips.

Otherwise, feel free to rent the free bicycles and kayaks for some casual fun!

When you’re finally tired and hungry from your day’s activities, check out the in-house Khoongnam and Baanrua Restaurant for a well-deserved meal.

6. Stay in a jungle treehouse (pool included!) just like Tarzan and Jane – Keemala Treehouse (Phuket)

Begin by taking an hour and half car ride through the forest and then walk swaying on a rope bridge (2 person at a time only!). We guarantee a divine coffee at the end of your sojourn.

8. It feels like a deserted island! – Tara Cape Resort

Situated in Ban Hin Hak, Tara Cape Resort is literally in the middle of a lake – so much so that it feels almost like it’s a deserted island in the middle of nowhere. To reach the resort, you’ll definitely need to take a boat ride (unless you have the ability to walk on water). 😛

Once here, you’ll find that it features a really unique stone decor where the exteriors and room interiors display walls made of stone. It feels cosy and the rock interiors are surprisingly welcoming and sophisticated – and it reminds us a little of the stone-age qualities of The Flintstones!

Sit on your terrace and unwind by the lake, or lay in the over-water net and watch the clouds drift by, Tara Cape Resort provides a quiet bliss that can be hard to find nowadays.
