In many American movies, there’s always some lake or waterfall that’s like a hot spot for teenagers. Everyone has a great time and it all seems really fun… Till you realise there’s no toilet or food.
We’ve got the solution to both problems: Cafes with a pool. Genius, isn’t it?
Nothing could be more perfect for hanging out with your friends. I don’t know about you, but I could stay there all day with mine, taking turns somersaulting into the pool and chilling with some drinks.
If you promise not to share it with the grown ups… Here are ten of the best spots in and around Bangkok.
1. Fall in, soldier, this an Avenger’s operation base – Hangar Cafe’
Decommissioned planes, humvees and helicopters are used as decorations at this one-of-a-kind cafe, an hour’s drive from central Bangkok.
You will see Hulk and Iron Man waiting to greet you in the grounds. There is also a waterfall replica of Erawan Falls (click if you’re interested to see the real deal).
While the pool’s not for swimming, you can feed the fishes in there. But if your friends are anything like mine – you should bring along a change of clothes, you know, just in case.
The food’s great for the price. Cakes come with a fruit of your choice – and their Spinach Cheese is so sinful for such a healthy dish and absolutely amazing!

2. Open water dining areas makes it look like The Rome’s fun younger sister – Share House & Restaurant
Everyone’s heard of The Rome (#6 on this list) so come meet its concept twin. Where it lacks in majestic architecture, it makes up for being fun and spontaneous.
They serve a variety of comfort food and fresh shellfish. But it’s their drinks that make everything so much more enjoyable.
Will you just look at that huge glass with three Coronas. They have other in-house specialities that are just begging to be sampled.
Throw your inhibitions to the wind and make it a night to remember. The pool’s pretty shallow so no diving! But it still makes for a good splash-fest.

3. You don’t have to fly all the way to Europe for grand views and a good night – The Rome
Suit up in your best and head to Bangkok’s mini Rome, with white pillars and dining areas set in water. The statuettes are actual stone and not made out of papier mache.
While you don’t have to take a flight, it is a little out of the way. There are no public transportation you can take unless you want to try navigating the bus routes which we do not recommend as they are very complicated.
Plus, you won’t be able to swim in the pool. It’s more for show than play. But if you’re really want that next level picture without the hefty price tag of going to actual Rome, it’s the place to be.
They serve Thai food, despite its European designs, and it’s said to be quite good. Thai food at the Colosseum, now that’s something you don’t get to experience everyday.

5. Heaven is on the 37th floor of The Continental Hotel – H20 Pool Bar
Classy and elegant, H20 Pool Bar offers great views of the city… But once the sun sets, it’ll be your mates that will steal the show.
They have exotic cocktails but a limited selection on their menu. If you’re not filling up for finger food and burgers or sandwiches, we’d suggest have your fill at one of their other restaurants for Asian or Italian.
End the night in their infinity pool. It’s free for guests and patrons, so if you’ve purchased a drink go ahead and strip down with your crew!
H20 Pool Bar

6. Escape the city with your friends up high – Pasta & Pool
One of the charms of this place is that not many people know about it. Hidden from view, on the top floors of Lit Bangkok Hotel & Residence, is a perfect hideaway for your and your friends.
You’ll be dining by an inviting pool, and what better way to cool off from the heat than swimming? Although, they do charge 550 baht per person.
It’s totally worth it though, to be able to enjoy time with your friends on a roof, far removed from the bustle and outside world.
Especially if you are pasta lovers, there are all kinds of dishes designed to tickle your palettes. Creamy pesto drizzled on your scallop pasta and lasagna milles feuilles containing buttery layers of goodness.
Top that off with a panna cotta and you’re all set to float dreamily in a food coma daze.

7. Show your friends some love by making them breakfast! – Melange Bangkok
You don’t have to do anything, only customise what you want from the menu and the chef will sort you all out.
There’s a shallow pool round the center of the restaurant, and it comes equipped with a slide. Although, it looks like it’s meant for kids. But don’t let that stop you from enjoying yourselves.
It’s a good place to hang out if you’re not too bothered by kids, because it’s quite popular with young families. (If you’re a friend group with kids, it’s also a great place for a group family hang!)
The place is decorated like a tropical holiday home, with wooden furnishings and comfy interiors.

8. Live music, beers and good food equal happy smiles all around – Water Y Restaurant
This restaurant has two levels, but the pool is on top floor – that gives you open skies and far off twinkling city lights.
It’s a popular scene amongst uni students, so it will definitely be a chill place to mingle with others around the same age.
They also have live performances every night. Even if you’re not a uni student, it will definitely take you back to the days when you were younger, and every night promised countless possibilities.

9. If your friends have a golden tongue and your want Michelin grade food – Nahm Restaurant
This fine-dining restaurant will cater to fussy eaters who want nothing but the best.
The chef, while not ethnically Thai, has poured his heart and soul into recreating traditional Thai cuisine.
While the pool looks inviting, we’re guessing the guests who come here might be a little too dignified to leap in with their black suits and evening gowns, simply because there are no pictures showing anyone having some fun!
But hey, you’re more than welcomed to try and dare each other. And when you get that shot, make sure you tag us on instagram @tripcanvas.thailand or simply use the hashtag #tripcanvas.

Rooftop bars are amazing, but it gets pretty boring after a while, looking at the same skyline and drinking the same drinks.
Nothing says living in the moment than a good splash with your friends when you’re mildly intoxicated. (However, we want to remind you not drink too much as that could get dangerous.)
Make sure you bookmark this list or share it with your friends. It’ll definitely come in handy the next time you’re around and looking for a good time. Or simply, a nice place to kick back with your crew.
