General Medicine

This includes medical institutions that provide comprehensive medical services, including (but not limited to) Surgical, ENT and Pediatrics.

1. Experience world-class medical care – Bangkok Hospital

Most foreigners may recognise Bumrungrad Hospital more than Bangkok Hospital, but honestly, Bangkok Hospital is just as good (or even better) than the former.

Photo Via Dr_mint, Wattanosothcancerhospital

Personally speaking, Bangkok Hospital provides very good medical service and is becoming more international. In fact, they have doctors that are highly fluent in English, Chinese and more – so don’t worry if your Thai language skills are nonexistent.

Photo Via Supercutto, Mymedholiday, Ayeyumon_

The doctors here are highly knowledgeable in their field, while the hospital itself offers comprehensive medical services, from Emergency to ENT. So if anything does happen to you (or you’re unsure which department you should head to), you can be assured that the right professionals will attend to you in any situation.

2. Say goodbye to ouchies – Samitivej

Another hospital that’s renowned for its world-class medical care is Samitivej. Trusted for their professional medical staff and services, many locals actually come here when they’re in need of medical attention.

Special to Samitivej, they have their own Children’s Hospital to cater for all types of illnesses kids may face, including a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Infectious Disease Clinic and Bone Marrow and Stem Cell Transplantation Center.

3. Who says all hospitals are expensive? – Phyathai Hospital

Short of cash / no medical insurance but still want high-quality medical care? Then head straight to Phyathai Hospital. It’s not as expensive as the other two hospitals, making it one of the favoured choices for middle-class Thais.

Photo Via Phyathai-1-Hospital

Don’t get me wrong, although it’s more affordable, it doesn’t mean the medical attention you receive here won’t be as good as the others. The staff here are extremely professional, and in fact, I’ve had friends and family friends admitted to this hospital. I’ve even had my check-up here, and it was all done in English!

4. Meet Thailand’s oldest and largest hospital – Siriraj Piyamaharajkarun

Another hospital you can consider going to is the private branch of Siriraj Hospital, Siriraj Piyamaharajkarun. Being the oldest, as well as largest hospital in the city, it has a reputable standing among locals, who still choose to frequent here because of its known reputation.

Photo Via Joe-the-Kop

However, it’s highly unrecommended for travellers to visit the public hospital (Siriraj Hospital) because of their very long waiting time. As such, we suggest travellers visit Siriraj Piyamaharajkarun instead, where you can expect shorter queues and the same top medical services.

Photo Via Siphhospital

Just like other hospitals in this category, it offers a wide variety of medical services from Orthopedic and ENT, to Cancer and Surgery.

Fun fact: Siriraj Hospital is frequented by the Thai Royal Family (the late King was previously admitted here). It’s also under Mahidol University, aka Thailand’s best university for medicine.

Therapeutic Massage

Get a licensed masseuse or masseur to relieve your muscle pains and knots.

13. Get a specialist to relieve your muscle pains – Health Land

Whenever mine or my dad’s back or shoulders ache, we’ll head straight to Health Land. What I love about this place is that they’ve got licensed masseuse and masseur that knows exactly how to untie your muscle knots and relieve the pain. You can also choose whether you want a male or female specialist.

Photo Via Kool__, Syun.1o29

To start it off, they’ll ask you to change your shoes into slippers before you’re taken to an enclosed area (each space is cordoned off with a floor-to-ceiling curtain). They’ll then ask you to change your clothes to clean clothes (like the ones they give when you’re taking an X-Ray). After your treatment, they’ll put hot towels on the treated part of your body before you’re given hot tea (this part feels amaaazingggg!).

12. Say goodbye to glasses – TRSC International LASIK Center

Wearing glasses can be inconvenient, especially if you have an active lifestyle or easily misplace things (prescribed glasses are expensive!). So why not get rid of them once and for all (or improve your vision by leaps) with a LASIK surgery?

This place only handles LASIK surgery cases, so you can be assured that they’ll take good care of your eye and improve your eyesight.

In the TCM department itself, they have mainland Chinese doctors well-versed in Thai and Chinese, as well as licensed Acupuncturists. Based on your condition, the doctors here will prescribe you the correct medication to relieve your problem.
