We’ve personally tried Klook’s customisable tours with a private car and driver, and it’s both convenient and value-for-money!

Planning an itinerary from scratch, and researching travel options can be tedious and time-consuming, especially when planning a halal-friendly trip.

Thankfully, Klook’s custom tours complete with a private chartered car and driver makes travelling simple – and they’re available for different destinations throughout Thailand!

If you’re looking to bring your family to Khao Yai (Thailand’s Europe!) – Klook-ing your way there would make your holiday more convenient and even sweeter.

With a car and driver picking us up at the hotel, bringing us from place to place, and finally dropping us off at the hotel at the end of the day – it’s a fun and truly fuss-free way to explore destinations.

(Taxis can be extremely expensive, charging up to 500 Baht per one-way trip or more, and travellers might encounter dishonest taxi drivers. With Klook’s customisable tours, you can avoid going to all that trouble!)

Overview

This itinerary covers everything you need for a fun-filled family vacation in Khao Yai and Bangkok – from family-sized accommodation to amazing halal-friendly places to eat and shop at.

We’ve even planned the routes for you, so you can solely concentrate on having fun and bonding with your family!

Getting There and Around

Khao Yai is a 2.5 hour drive from Bangkok, and the most convenient way of getting there and getting around Khao Yai is to hire a car. You can either hire a private car with a driver or a car to drive around yourself, as public transport is difficult to get in Khao Yai.

Here are some some transport recommendations:
1. Klook’s private car with a driver From 3,400 Baht / approx. USD $109 per day
Klook’s private chartered car with a driver from Bangkok will take you to places according to your customised itinerary for complete comfort and convenience – no more dealing with tours taking you to unwanted destinations.

2. Car rental without driver From 1,200 Baht / approx. USD $39 per day
Confident about driving on unfamiliar roads? Enjoy driving around? If yes, consider renting a car from Ezy, AVIS, or Hertz. (Prices vary depending on the car model.)
3. Airport and City Transfers (From USD $59.59 / 1834 Baht)
If you’re not keen on hiring a car to get around and only require an airport transfer, or city transfer, the simplest way to do it would be via Klook.

On the other hand, we recommend getting around Bangkok using public transport (BTS, MRT, or taxi – from 16 Baht / approx. USD $0.51).

Day 1

Be transported to Europe by visiting a vineyard and a Tuscan village

To make the best out of your trip, we recommend taking the earliest flight to Bangkok so you reach Khao Yai around lunch time – just in time for you to have lunch before travelling around the city.

PS: It takes approximately 2.5 hours to reach Khao Yai so grab some light snacks from the convenience store for your little ones in case they get cranky on the road.

Enjoy lunch at Khao Yai’s Muslim restaurant with a mosque – Narknava Restaurant “Khawmok Hiso” (1 hour)

Didn’t have time for a proper breakfast? No worries. Satisfy your hungry bellies with appetizing Thai Muslim dishes like Thai Chicken Biryani (Khao Mok Gai) or Curry with Roti. But if you’d like to stick with something safe, choose steak instead (chicken, beef, or lamb).

There’s also a mosque on the premise, in case you want to pray.

Day 2 Route

Day 3

Get close to animals and nature before exploring an Italian village

Your Khao Yai trip isn’t complete if you haven’t seen nature’s beauty – both animals and scenery alike. Afterwards, relax and have fun at an Italian-themed village, Palio Khao Yai.

Take a walk on the wild side – The Bonanza Exotic Zoo (1.5 hours)

This zoo is particularly great, as not only do you get the opportunity to see lots of awesome animals, but you also get the chance to feed some of them as well.

Among the 50+ types of exotic animals living here, some of the animals you are guaranteed to see are: alpacas, white lions, red pandas, orangutans, wallabies and racoons.

Best of all, the zoo is easily explored in a couple of hours (700 metre circular walkway) – a great thing for those who don’t fancy much walking!

Editor’s Note: TripCanvas is strongly against animal cruelty, and we strongly urge everyone to treat these animals gently – and make sure that they are handled with love and care. If you have seen signs that the animals are not being well taken care of, please highlight it to us immediately.

If the animals are uncomfortable with you, please do not force them to take pictures with you. Please also do not feed animals food that might not be part of their natural diet. We urge you to write to us if you see anything that makes you uncomfortable – we will do our best to report the truth, and fight for their rights together.

Day 4 Route

Day 5

Go on a last-minute shopping spurt before flying back home

It’s finally your last day in Thailand. Don’t be sad just yet though. Visit Bangkok’s newest Japanese-themed shopping complex DONKI Mall Thonglor and have lunch at Siam Ceylon before heading to the airport.

PS: After having breakfast at the hotel and checking out, store your luggage at the hotel or send them directly to the airport so you save commute time and get more time to shop (find out more on Klook).

Shop at Japan’s famous discount chain store – DONKI Mall Thonglor (1.5 hours)

Just opened in February 2019, you can now get the same Japanese stuff you would have bought in the Land of Sakura.

Okonomiyaki toy set for kids? Japanese seasonings? Or even fresh strawberries to eat on the way to the airport? Find everything at DONKI Mall Thonglor!

FYI: DONKI Mall Thonglor also have D-Sports Stadium, an indoor sports complex where you can play various types of sports (in case your kids get restless while shopping).

Have Sri Lankan cuisine for lunch before heading to the airport – Siam Ceylon (1 hour)

Grab some Sri Lankan cuisine for your last lunch in Bangkok before you head to the airport.

The must-try dish here is the Sri Lankan Koththu – finely shredded flatbread mixed and mashed together with chicken and vegetables and lots of aromatic spices. So delicious and comforting!

And of course, it’s not Sri Lankan food without some curry. So if you’re a fan of creamy curry, look no further! If you are vegan, just ask for your plate vegetarian, without fish or seafood sauce, without eggs and without dairy and they will kindly make it for you

Disclaimer: This restaurant is halal-certified.

Make your stay in Bangkok super comfortable by residing at the 1 Bedroom room – fitted with a small kitchen (no stove), living room, and separate bedroom area.
