This cafe basically makes your mermaid dreams come true from the decor to the scrumptious food. Ready to dive in? Here are 5 reasons you should obviously make a trip down ASAP!

1. The first mermaid-themed afternoon tea we’ve ever seen

The first thing most people look out for is the Signature Set, a gorgeous mermaid-themed Afternoon Tea set.

It comes complete with mermaid cupcakes, shell cookies and pastel cakes – served with tea steaming right out of Mrs Potts and Chip, from Beauty and the Beast nonetheless!

2. More mermaid-themed desserts!

There are loads of rainbow/mermaid-themed desserts if that’s what you’re craving too. Take the rainbow waffles served with pastel ice-cream, banana and a generous drizzle of chocolate syrup for one!

Another great one is the Mermaid Sundaes, a pastel concoction topped with frothy whipped cream and a beautiful mermaid’s tail.

Otherwise, you can never go wrong with a good Chocolate Lava Cake served with 2 scoops of pastel ice-cream too!

We can’t forget to give their Milkyway Pastel Cake (with a fluffy cracker base and cream cheese filling) a mention! It’s a simple choice to make, if you’re looking for something lighter to share.

Another cake worth a mention is the Rainbow Layer Cake served with a generous chocolate drizzle and some strawberry syrup if you have a strong sweet tooth.

Last but not least, Bubble Sodas are perfect for those who love a little fizz. They come in different flavours and colours depending on your mood. 😀

3. There are some classic mains served here too

If you’re more hungry and are looking for mains to fill up on, fret not – Mermaid Island Cafe serves up some classic staples!

How about Spicy Bacon Spaghetti?

If not, how about Stewed Pork Rice served in the cutest cup/bowl combo, to be eaten with the super cute ice-cream spoon provided?

4. There’s so much thought put into the details of the space to create a mermaid paradise!

Enough about the desserts and food, let’s talk about the cafe’s interiors.

The exterior of the cafe gives a quick glimpse of what to expect, from the pastel colours and scale-designed pillars, to the Mermaid Island Cafe logo and sign.

Upon walking in, you’ll see that the front area is an airy, dreamy space complete with soft draping canopies on a raised platform for those who want to get a little more comfortable during their time here.

The front area is also a great place for Instagram shots, since there are props like mermaid tails, and themed plushies!

The main area where the counter and tables are situated also oozes mermaid design elements from the floor that looks watery and wet, as though you were standing in the ocean…to the gorgeous scale pattern on the walls, and what looks like dripping water bubbles (read: light fixtures) on the ceiling.

Next, there’s a dedicated mermaid dress-up playroom to take more Instagram shots!

5. You’ll be simply spoilt for photo opportunities here!

If you’re here, you can’t miss out on a photo with the magically cool ‘I’m fabulous mermaid’ neon sign. (Sure, there’s an error here, but it’s so cool, who cares!)

Apart from that, when nature calls, the toilet will astound you with its coppery tiled walls that’ll make you feel as though you were in some magically mermaid grotto. Get creative and take some artsy shots here!
