What’s the one Thai food you dearly miss when you’re back home from Bangkok? For me, it’s Tom Yum. In fact, I miss it so much that I usually buy those Tom Yum packaged spices before I leave Thailand because finding delicious-tasting AND authentic Tom Yum is quite difficult abroad. #sadtruth

So when I’m back in The Land of Smiles, I always make sure to eat Tom Yum, whether it’s the normal kind (the soup with prawns and other seafood) or Tom Yum noodles.

If you love noodles and Tom Yum like me, good news. Here are 10 different types of Tom Yum noodles Bangkokians are crazy for, all within 40 minutes from Pratunam Market.

1. Look at those big shrimps! – Ran Long Uan (ร้านลงอวน)

One of my favourite seafood is shrimp because you can cook them however you want and they taste delicious no matter how you cook them.

So when you put shrimps (fried battered and boiled shrimps) and Tom Yum together, what you get is something out of this world. Complete the dish with half-boiled eggs and flat egg noodles and you have a winner.

PS: They also have a signature Tom Yum dish which includes shrimps and one whole squid (120 Baht).

2. Is this ramen or Tom Yum noodles? – Siang Ho (ร้านเซียงฮ่อ)

Well… I would say this is Thailand’s take on Japanese ramen. For this Tom Yum dish, they used pork chashu in addition to half-boiled eggs and noodles, as well as crispy pork (for an additional 20 baht).

Photo Via Siang-Ho, Surasit-Samraul

This dish also includes sliced cabbages and carrots instead of the usual bean sprouts. The soup is also the creamy kind, just like how ramen’s broth is right? Savoury, creamy and oh-soooo-meaty.
