Ask anyone for one reason why Bangkok is a must-go destination and most will say it’s because of their affordable shopping and cheap food (think street food Pad Thai).
However, most places (like Platinum or Pratunam) only open during the day, or at most until 8pm! For people like us who particularly enjoy that distinct Bangkok night market experience – finding the best ones is of UTMOST importance (if we’re to truly shop till we drop!).
Thanks to our eyes and ear on the ground, we’ve uncovered 14 best night markets across Bangkok – that not only sells scrumptious food and fashionable clothes and accessories – but also offer something extra. 😉
We’ve ranked them from the most secretive (5 stars) to the super famous (1 star), so what are you waiting for? Let’s go!

Open on weekdays: 8 lesser-known night markets in Bangkok for some intense shopping!
1. Eat and shop ‘til you drop – The Owl Market
We bet you haven’t heard of this market yet.
Food fighters, lo and behold! Whether you have a sweet tooth or enjoy savoury dishes, get ready to stuff your tummies with everything!
From lava-filled soft bread (in flavours like Strawberry Pocky and Thai Tea) to Thai favourites, such as giant meatballs and Khanom Chin. All you need to do is head over to the ‘Food Square’, where many of the food stalls are located.
Not hungry yet? Don’t fret. Lucky for you, food stalls are available throughout the night market, ensuring you can easily grab a bite as you shop when you do feel famished.
Don’t forget to get some cute shirts and pants, and one or two toys for your lil’ ones, before you leave the market too! Better yet, treat yourself to a few pairs of sturdy (but cheap) shoes and a bag full of beauty products before calling it a day.
And if you happen to be around during one of the festive days, stick around to catch their special event.
[TEMPORARILY CLOSED] 2. An old factory turned weekend hipster night market – The Knack Market
Stroll around the market as you enjoy the relaxing vibes exuded by the Chaopraya River and have fun checking out the different goods sold.
With numerous stalls offering a wide range of products, ranging from scented candles to straw woven baskets to jewellery, we’re sure you’ll find something you must buy.
If something catches your eye, you should probably buy it immediately! Why? Because sellers here frequently change, so you might not find the item you’re looking for if you come again on another day.
Once you’re done, wind down at the open space as you listen to the live band and eat your striploin steak and seafood spaghetti. There are also lighter options like fruit juices and sausages (perfect for those who just want something to nibble on).
Tip: To avoid disappointment, check online beforehand to confirm if a particular seller is selling at The Knack Market on that day.
PS: The Knack Market is closed for the rainy season and will reopen at the end of the year. Please check their Facebook for the latest update.
3. Let your inner child loose (and your wallets looser) – Mali Market
Had enough with the usual shopping and eating routine? You’ve come to the right place.
Here, you’ll discover shooting games for teenagers and adults, and kid-friendly activities like the flying plane ride, cartoon-themed bouncy castle, and statue painting – where both you and your young travel buddies can play to your hearts’ content.
Want better news? You can continue your shopping adventure afterwards! With hundreds of stalls selling everything from soccer jerseys and mini dresses to iPhone cases and handmade bags… Foresee yourself emptying your wallets and carrying tens of shopping bags home!
And on the off-chance you feel hungry or thirsty, treat yourself to some mouthwatering barbeque ribs, juicy grilled chicken, or refreshing ice-cream.
You can even sit on the floor or at one of the benches and watch the latest soccer match on the big screen, as you catch your breath and ready yourself for another round of fun.
4. Unexpectedly chic shopping (and an oyster bar!) – Huamum Night Market
We didn’t know how big Hua Mum Night Market was! From the area with the Hulk to the Hua Mum Broadway side of the market, it was tons of fun walking around, and exploring what it had to offer.
There’s an interesting variety of food here, like the oyster bar that looked like a fantastic place to chill with a friend.
There’s Japanese sushi and ramen, an interesting cafe with hunks in dresses (long queue for that) – Italian and Thai food, as well as traditional desserts! If you’re into fitness and beauty, check out the whey protein and collagen-based smoothies!
If you’re here to stock up on clothes, the fashion’s quite chic with a good range for both men and ladies. We also saw these cool Balmain-inspired biker jeans, and a number of quirky designs while walking around.
As usual, there are some kids’ clothes on sale, and other funky fun stuff to buy from cute water bottles to Groot figurines, handmade ceramics and retro household goods – not forgetting a tattoo parlour if you’re looking to pick up a more permanent souvenir from your trip.
You’ll have a good time wandering about this spacious market with its unique array of food and shopping!

5. Experience night markets the local way – TaladNad KoKoTho (ตลาดนัด กกท)
Want to shop like the locals? Come to TaladNad KoKoTho (also known as SAT Night Bazaar, Rajamangala Night Market, and Ramkhamhaeng Night Market), a roadside night market located just half an hour away from the city centre.
Whether you’re here for dinner, to shop, or just to relax and do some sightseeing, count on experiencing everything just like how the Thais do it.
Looking for a particular item? You’re in luck. With hundreds of stalls selling clothes, jeans, socks, makeup tools, and more, we’re sure you’ll find what you’re searching for here.
Note: We found stalls selling flower-patterned shirts and cartoon-themed socks, perfect for any floral lovers and cartoon obsessed peeps!
Once your search is over (or if you decide to take a short break), replenish your energy with local favourites like Som Tum (best eaten with sticky rice) and international foods like Sushi and Takoyaki. There’s also a plethora of halal food stalls for both pork and non-pork eaters, ensuring everyone will be spoiled for choice.
But if you find yourself needing a change in scenery or a place to eat comfortably, opt to sit on the grass around the small lake.

6. Understated night market that’s a must-go in our books – Liab Duan Night Market
Pictures don’t do this market justice, it’s huge and overflowing with tons to eat and shop. When you arrive, the entrance is generally by the ATM area. Another key feature of Liab Duan are the huge transformers (yes, those alien robots) standing in the middle of the market.
But that’s not important. What’s available to buy here? Everything from clothes to pet stuff and homewares. Personally, we bought a cat scratching post, lots of cute clothes and accessories, and got a manicure too!
For the girls looking to update your wardrobe – there are many really cute designs we’ve yet to see elsewhere in Bangkok! Apart from those, there are statement tote bags with quotes like “Cute but Psycho”, wigs, and a selection of falsies among others!
For the boys, well you’ve got your tees, boxers, fake Supreme jackets, sneakers, caps, and even motorbike helmets.
Those with little ones can pick up an outfit or more, with kids’ clothes and costumes. Anyone with a little girl still not over Frozen yet? You’ll find Elsa, Rapunzel and The Little Mermaid dresses here. And if that’s not enough, look out for the kids’ shoes and toys!
We can’t forget the homewares and decorative items – from fairy lights to our favourite moon lamp, to small wooden shelves (we actually bought one and lugged it back home) and stainless steel drinking straws for the environmentally conscious.
Last but not least, don’t forget to end the night with a well-deserved massage!
Editor’s Note: This market is similar to Talad Neon, but with lesser crowds and waaay better shopping!

7. A hidden gem revealed – INDY Market
Heard about those places “only locals know about”? Well, we figured out Indy Market at Dao Khanong is one of them, and it’s only half an hour away from the beating heart of Bangkok!
We have done it all at this market – spent our last pennies (we wished we had more!)…
Tried out the weirdest delicacies (penis-shaped waffles filled with an actual sausage)…
Chilled to a live performance…
And even had a multi-language conversation with locals (a three-way conversation in English, Thai and French).
Now back to the most important part – SHOPPING!
Our bargaining success? Bags full of graphic tees for our whole squad, trendy crop tops for summer vacations, handmade faux leather sandals and stylish jewellery – all at super affordable prices!

8. Stuff yourself and empty your wallet – Artbox
No, we are not introducing the Korean stationery brand. This container box night market is where hipster foodies gather for some of the prettiest food you’ll find in Bangkok, along with handmade crafts!
If you’re the type who’d prefer to have a sandwich in hand as you flip through shelves, this is the place for you.
Although Artbox’s focus is mainly on food, it still has a small section of stalls that sell blogshop-style clothing and funky items, including homeware and handmade accessories.
You’ll be able to get everything you need for below 500 Baht here, so this market won’t hurt your wallet too much (unless you’re a glutton!).
That being said, Artbox probably won’t be too satisfying for you if you’re a hardcore, Chatuchak-style shopper – but if you just want to spend a casual night out at an atmospheric location… With live music in the background as you throw your money at some cheesy fries, Artbox will definitely do the job.
PS: Do check their social media page for the latest address of this travelling market!

Website 9. An upcycled creative market where a retired Thai jet takes center stage – Chang Chui Market
Honestly, with all the airplane stuff that’s been coming up, has anyone ever thought how bizarre it feels to be exploring abandoned planes in the middle of nowhere – much less in the middle of a market?
Chang Chui Market is bursting to the brim with creative spaces all around for you to take great photos at. They’ve plonked a huge airplane in the middle of the market where you can dine and drink inside. There’s even this cool taxidermy museum where you get to pose with natural history exhibits.
With four acres of open space showing unconventional street art, Bangkok rarely does things halfway.
Once you’re done, visit some of the stores selling antiques, handcrafted items, or products by new designers. But if those things are too pricey for you, there are also stalls that sell (more) affordable baby apparel, accessories, and paintings. If you’re lucky, you might find something you like (that’s within your budget)!
Up for a challenge? Make your way to Insects in the Backyard to try some insect-centric, fine-dining cuisine (caution: not for the faint-hearted). But if this is too much for you, opt for one of the cafes, restaurants, or stalls scattered around the market or the food pavilion offering classic Thai street food instead.
10. This market’s great for families we reckon! – Talad Neon
Ready to leave the Pratunam area? Don’t rush off too soon. Make a pit stop at Talad Neon, the ever-expanding night market located just a stone’s throw away from Platinum.
With numerous food stalls offering a wide array of delicacies, including meat and cheese, baked potatoes, and charcoal waffles – we guarantee you’ll be stuffed even before you try out every single item available here!
Top off your meal the “extra” way, whether it’s by drinking high cocktails made with edible glitter or a refreshing lemonade served in a lightbulb.
If you’re still up for shopping, look around the various stalls in the market. With fashion pieces, anime figurines, customisable laptop bags, phone cases, plushies and more being sold here, we know you’ll find something you like.
No more shopping for the day? Then head over to the arcade section or get a short massage while you wait for your loved ones to finish their shopping escapade.

11. Huuuge vintage train market with lots of shopping options – Talad Rod Fai Srinakarin
This is where trendy youngsters hang out at night for a chilled night of shopping or simply hanging out at the numerous nightlife spots available. Blending your usual flea market with a unique assortment of authentic vintage memorabilia that you can’t find elsewhere, is what gives Talad Rot Fai Srinakarin its unique identity.
Right when you step into the night market, you’ll be greeted with a long corridor full of a diverse range of shops, from bars and eateries to fashion and even a hairdresser.
It’s ever important to remind yourself that you have to move on, or you’ll be losing out on experiencing the main part of the market, which is found further into the complex.
In the first warehouse area of the complex, you’ll find stores selling everything from second-hand vintage clothing to plushies and clocks. If you’re here on a weekend (which you really should be), moving on from this indoor area will take you to the outdoor market, which makes up the bulk of the market.
Here, you’ll find more fashion items and second-hand collectables, and yes, plenty of yummy street food as well.
There’s so much more we could share about this unmissable night market, but you’ll simply have to see it for yourselves!

12. The smaller (yet bustling) train night market near the heart of Bangkok! – Talad Rod Fai Ratchada
Created in 2015 in response to the first train market’s overwhelming success, the second Talad Rot Fai can be found in Ratchada.
This is the smaller – and easier to access – version of its predecessor, that definitely offers almost as much as the first!
It’s laidback, hipster-ish and offers unique vintage items, however, it is much smaller and does not have nearly as many choices as the previous market does.
The stalls are presented in straight lanes, and you’ll find your usual street food at the sides, with fashion and vintage memorabilia in the middle. (There’s some really, really good food to be found here too!)
This market is also far less remote than Talad Rot Fai Srinakarin, so if you’re wondering whether it’s worth it to travel for that, you can always visit this market for a taste of what it’s like.

13. Bustling night market by the river – Asiatique the Waterfront
Whether you took a cab or the free shuttle boat to Asiatique the Waterfront, you’ll know you’ve arrived once you see bright lights, hoards of people, and the giant Ferris Wheel with the “Chang” sign.
Although pricier than other night markets on this list, the wide selection of food and shopping choices in this market, and the calming vibes of the Chao Praya River makes it one of the must-go (and one of my favorite) night markets in Bangkok!
For food choices, we recommend going to MK (it’s arguably the most popular Thai-style shabu-shabu restaurant chain in Thailand), or any of the seafood restaurants facing the river (be ready to spend thousands of Baht if you choose this though). But you can always go for some (cheaper) fried tiger prawns from one of the food stalls if seafood is your thing.
And if anyone needs some last minute souvenir shopping, Asiatique the Waterfront sells everything from Naraya bags and Thai snacks to sunglasses and beaded necklaces to Thai boxing gears and nightgowns – items sure to appease any disgruntled family members or friends left behind.
While you’re here, don’t miss out on watching two of Thailand’s most iconic shows, Muay Thai Live and Calypso Cabaret Show.
Tip: Sit on one of the benches located along the Waterfront District to relax and experience the beauty of the Chao Praya River at night.
PS: This night market is definitely on the expensive side, and is more for those who are also looking for local Thai brands. If you’re looking for a more traditional night market experience, this isn’t it.
14. Blessed be the night market that’s huge and right where we want it – Palladium Night Market
Welcome to Palladium Night Market, right smack in the middle of Pratunam…
You probably know about this market, but our first impression while there: Parents’ paradise! Tons of affordable kids’ clothing!
It looked like it’s been literally revamped to a night market featuring kids’ clothing, and tons of choices for grown-ups and adults too of course!
Stocking up on affordable kids’ clothes from the night market isn’t a bad idea at all.
These kiddies’ superhero costumes were just too cute to handle, and we seriously think they will fulfill your little one’s dreams and wishes!
On a side note; if just like us you have many boy friends (FRIENDS!!); great gift ideas – comfy BOXERS at the most affordable prices…
We hunted; we bargained, and we eventually treated ourselves to versatile leggings for gym and yoga too. 😉
It’s a great stop-by while you make your way back to your hotel after a full day in Bangkok’s shopping malls; a few more shopping bags never killed anybody!
