Scroll through your Instagram feed, or see photos of celebrities online – and you’ll notice that the gorgeous girls usually have one thing in common – perfectly groomed nails.

True story, I used to paint my nails at least once every week, and it’s kinda crazy how much time I used to spend on this.

For every working gal who has no time to spare, but enjoys keeping yourself perfectly groomed – going for manicures is a great way to relax, pamper yourself and indulge in self care.

Gel nails last at least a month, and it’s incredible how it’s so long lasting and hardy with hardly any chips.

If you’re in Bangkok, you simply can’t miss out on a quick gel manicure session. It’s affordable (note: super cheap), and there are tons of colours and designs to choose from.

Plus, these nail salons are all located in central shopping areas, so all you need to do is pop by when your feet needs a break from all the shopping!

PS: The basic price of gel manicures in Bangkok is usually from 250 to 300 Baht for basic one colour manicures. If you’re looking to get manicures with a design, the cost will increase according to the design you want – but it’s still cheaper than the manicure places back home!

1. Have a quick snooze and a mani-pedi at Siam Square area – Sleep Salon & Spa

There’s plenty to love about Sleep Salon & Spa. First, you’ll find it at the Siam Square shopping district in the cutest pink 3-story building named Choose Dress ❤.

You’ll find a boutique selling the cutest clothes and accessories on the first two levels. We enjoyed a little shopping here before getting down to our manicures!

Once you’ve made your way up to the third floor, you’ll find the salon with a cool sleep theme. Choose your nail colour/designs and when the manicurists are working on your nails, you’ll be able to enjoy a quick snooze!

If you’re thinking of getting your hair washed, dyed or permed, this is a good place to check out too. One of the highlights here is the hair wash and head massage in the sleep room. Think of it as an upgraded version of a standard Thai head and shoulders massage.

Imagine getting your hair washed (which is already very relaxing), head massaged at the same time, and being able to sleep for 30 luxurious minutes!

PS: I got both a manicure and pedicure done for the grand total of 1500 Baht – this included soak-offs of my previous mani-pedi, a custom colour, as well as abalone nail shards for the design. WORTH IT.

PPS: If you love getting massages, you should check out these affordable onsens and spas in Bangkok!

2. Shopping at Union Mall? Many nail salons here! – Union Mall

There’s plenty of reasons why we love Union Mall. From the cheaper local prices to the cute variety of clothes (including bridal stuff for men and women) – we had a ball of a time shopping here.

But what we appreciated the most, were the nail salons with their 250 Baht gel manicures available on the upper levels. Once your feet start getting sore from the shopping, take the opportunity to take a well-deserved break at one of these nail salons.

Look around and pop into the nail salon with manicure colours/designs of your choice, and sink into the seat as the manicurist works on your nails. (Our lovely colleague got the cutest mermaidy gel manicure here and loved it.)

At the end of the day, you’ll go back to the hotel with nice new clothes and accessories, with the beautiful nails to match!

PS: Don’t forget to shop around Union Mall Night Market too!

I bought a patterned kimono that can be worn at least 3 ways, with the most incredible fit from a cute local designer – and am still very pleased about it. 😛

The main highlight though, is that apart from shopping, we can get manicures at the same time, for the same great affordable Bangkok prices. How’s that for the best of both worlds!

5. The old school night market where you can get your nails done – Huai Kwang Night Market

Everyone’s going to the trendy new night markets in Bangkok, but very few remember the style of the old-school night markets that got Bangkok famous in the first place.

If you’re up for a walk down memory lane (or simply to experience an old-school Bangkok night market), you have to visit Huai Kwang Night Market.

The night market consists of 2 lanes down the sides of one long road, and you’ll be able to find everything from clothes to seafood, massages and more here. (They even have the trendy embroidered jackets here!)

Most importantly, there’s a fantastic little ‘mall’ right in the middle of the stretch of night market, that has a great place to get your nails done. We got our nails done here on our first night in Bangkok!

For those travelling with partners/friends who aren’t interested in getting manicures, there’s a cosy cafe right beside the nail salon with yummy drinks and great WiFi.
